Any sheet metal shop can bend up a "Tweed" style chassis quickly and inexpensively if you give them the dims or if you use an aluminum extrusion of box or C section, a cut off can be pretty cheap.

Alternatively you can build a sheet metal brake or buy a used one cheaply.

A Marshall style flat chassis is a little more work but still can be done cheaply. Most challenging is a Fender slope front, black/ brown/ silver face chassis.

The book lacks those dims which is a disappointment, but worse there is no good schematic, only a mutt half schematic, half pictorial that is tough for the novice to follow or build from.

Has Dave ever seen any of the excellent kid's DIY books by Alfred P Morgan or Harry Zarchy?? Those show how it's done pretty well.
